St John the Evangelist Church, Slimbridge, Wednesday 19 July 2017, 7.30 pm.

The church is the largest and almost certainly the oldest building in the Parish.  A place of worship but also a public building, its spire can be seen across the Vale.  But how much do you know about the history of this magnificent building at the centre of your village?

Come and join us on 19 July to learn about the life of this church since it was built almost 900 years ago to today.  How it survived the Reformation, the Civil War and the ravages of time, nature and social and religious change.

The meeting will be in the church and Reverend Boon will tell the story and take your questions before escorting you around both the interior and exterior pointing out things that even the most ardent member of the congregation probably hasn't noticed.  Weather permitting, we also hope to be able to conduct a limited number of 'tower tours'.

Everyone welcome, donations to the church
